Traditional Yagé Medicine Carrier & Ceremonial Guide

Elder Rubén has devoted his life to the spiritual path and to the preservation of the ancestral wisdom of Yagé medicine. His journey with this sacred tradition began at the age of sixteen, when he first started receiving Yage under the guidance of elders and grandfathers who safeguarded the healing mysteries of the jungle and the ceremonial knowledge passed down through generations.

From an early age, he was immersed in a disciplined path of learning rooted in reverence, humility, and service. Over time, and after years of preparation, Elder Rubén began cooking Yage in his early twenties, deepening not only his relationship with the medicine itself, but also his understanding of the responsibility, spiritual integrity, and devotion required to carry it in service to others.

After the passing of his first teacher, Elder Rubén continued his apprenticeship within the Siona community of Cuyabeno, Ecuador, where he received guidance from highly respected taitas, elders, and traditional healers known for their profound knowledge of Yagé, jungle medicine, energetic cleansing, and ancestral healing practices. Among the lineages and teachings that have nourished his path are those connected to revered wisdom keepers such as Abuelo Olmedo Payaguaje, along with other curacas and spiritual authorities of the Siona tradition, who entrusted him with ancient teachings surrounding the preparation, prayer, protection, and ceremonial use of Yagé.

His formation has also been enriched through the teachings of highly respected taitas, including the lineage and influence of Taita Querubín, one of the most recognized and beloved medicine elders in the Yagé tradition. Through this depth of study and direct ceremonial experience, Elder Rubén has cultivated a path that is both deeply rooted in ancestral tradition and guided by a sincere commitment to healing, truth, and service.

Today, Elder Rubén is recognized as a traditional healer and Yagé medicine cook, carrying forward a sacred lineage of prayer, purification, energetic alignment, and spiritual guidance.
